MID HUDSON BEREAVED PARENTS of the USA
A support group for parents, grandparents and siblings who have suffered the death of a child, grandchild or sibling.
There are no dues charged to belong to MHBPUSA -- we have already paid the highest price. Members are at all stages of recovery. Some have deep religious faith, others have lost their faith, while others are adrift. Attendance at meetings brings together newly bereaved parents with those who are further along in their grief and have worked through many grief-related issues. All are welcome!
If you are not ready to come to a support group, feel free to e-mail me (Kathy) and we can begin an on-line dialogue. My 21-year-old son, Michael, died suddenly in 1995 while away at college. I began my grief journey on-line with another bereaved parent. It has been a long, uphill climb but I can honestly say, "I am better." I will never be "my old self" but I am happy with the person I've become. My husband and I have an even stronger relationship and time spent with our surviving children, Michael's brothers, Pete and Chris, is precious indeed.
Facilitating a support group for other parents whose children have died is my way of honoring Michael and giving meaning and purpose to the senseless tragedy of losing him.
