Mother Goose and Roo
Mother Goose and Roo provides parents and teachers with a fun and bouncy take on the traditional nursery rhyme.
Bye, Baby Joey
Bye, Baby Joey.
Father's at church so holy,
Mother's gone to play bridge,
Sister's gone to Cambridge,
And brother's gone to buy a cart
To push the baby Joey smart.
Tom, the Piper's Son
Tom, Tom, the piper's son,
Bought himself a kangaroo for fun.
The 'roo was wild and he gave Tom a kick,
And Tom said, "I think it's time we learn a new trick."
Kangaroo on the Hill
There was a little kangaroo
Who jumped on the hill.
And if she's not gone,
She hops there still.
Legs Together
Legs together,
The kangaroo leaps.
He bounds across fields,
Where the smallest critters creep.
Kangaroo Joey Jumped on a Wall
Kangaroo Joey jumped on a wall.
Kangaroo Joey the best jumper of all.
All the Kang's mates,
And all of his friends,
Jumped up - to only fall down again.
The Loop-Dee-Doo
The Prince's cousin had a kangaroo,
Who loved to do the Loop-Dee-Doo.
Hold on tight,
With all your might,
And you can do it too.
Jack Sprat
Jack Sprat could eat no fat,
His wife could eat no lean.
A carnivorous kangaroo ate them both,
And licked his chops off clean!
Rock-A-Bye Joey
Rock-a-bye Joey,
In the tree-pouch,
When the wind blows,
He'll cover and crouch.
When the tree snaps,
The hammock will fall,
And down will come Joey
Tree-pouch and all.
Peas in Pouch
Peas in pouch up,
Peas in pouch down.
Peas in pouch tumbling,
'Round and 'round.
Some like them up.
Some like them down.
Joey likes them tumbling,
'Round and 'round.
Little Boy Boo
Little Boy Boo has lost his 'roo,
And doesn't know where to find him.
Leave him alone and he'll come home,
Bouncing his tail behind him.
Pat-A-Cake
Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, Kangaroo Stan!
Bake me a cake with this special plan,
Pat it and roll it and mark it with "J,"
And put it in the pouch for Joey today!
Little Boy Blue!
Little Boy Blue,
Come Blow your horn!
A dingo's in the meadow,
Another's in the corn.
Where's the little boy
Who looks after the roo?
He's asleep by the hay with
Out a clue!
Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Roo
Twinkle, twinkle, little roo,
Nice to meet you, Howdy-doo!
O'er the outback he will fly.
With a twinkle in his eye.
Twinkle, twinkle, little roo,
Nice to meet you, Howdy-doo!
Daddy Roo, Daddy Roo
DaddyRoo, DaddyRoo,
Bounce to the fair.
DaddyRoo, DaddyRoo,
Lose your wallet there.
DaddyRoo, DaddyRoo,
Slump on the couch.
DaddyRoo, Daddy, don't
You wish you had a pouch!
Kickety Jiggety Jack
Kickety Jiggety Jack,
Will not take any flak,
Against the ropes,
He'll go for broke,
Kickety Jiggety Jack.
Kickety Jiggety Jack,
He's flat-out on his back,
The count has begun,
But he's not done,
Kickey Jiggety Jack.
Kickety Jiggety Jack,
He's up and on the attack,
The bell has rung,
And a medal is hung,
On Kickety Jiggety Jack!
Kickety Jiggety Jack,
Keeps us in the black,
If we're in a pickle,
He'll give us a nickle,
Kickety Jiggety Jack.
Old MacDonald Had a Roo
Old MacDonald had a roo,
E-I-E-I OOU.
And on that roo there was an ear.
E-I-E-I OOU
With a wiggle-wiggle here,
A wiggle-wiggle there,
Here a wiggle,
There a wiggle,
Everywhere a wiggle-wiggle.
Old MacDonald had a roo
E-I-E-I-OOU.
And on this roo there was a foot,
E-I-E-I-OOU.
With a boing-boing here, a boing-boing there,
Here a boing,
There a boing,
Everywhere a boing-boing.
Old Mac Donald had a roo,
E-I-E-I-OOU.
And on that roo there was a tail,
E-I-E-I-OOU
With a swish-swish here, a swish-swish there,
Here a swish,
There a swish,
Everywhere a swish-swish,
Old MacDonald had a roo,
E-I-E-I-OOU.
And on that roo there was a pouch.
E-I-E-I-OOU.
With a snuggle-snuggle here, a snuggle-snuggle there,
Here a snuggle,
There a snuggle,
Everywhere a snuggle-snuggle,
Old MacDonald had a roo,
E-I-E-I-OOU.
Roo Bic's Cube
There once was a roo named Bic,
Whose box was quite a kick,
He showed his cube,
On every tube,
'Till everyone bought his trick.
Little Punchke
Little Punchke punched all day,
And when night fell he hit the hay.
Two Little Worker Bees
Two little worker bees,
Landed on Joey's knees,
Flapped their tiny wings and said,
"We'll build a hive upon his head!"
Bouncing In Between
I'm glad the sky is painted blue,
And the earth is painted green,
With a fair many marsupials,
Bouncing in between.
Ruby Roo
Here we go Ruby Roo,
Here we go Ruby Rye,
Here we go Ruby Roo,
All for a cookie say "I!"
Manners in the Field
Manners in the field,
Manners in the pouch,
Papa says, "Yield!"
Joey says, "Ouch!"
Tommy Roo Ate a Canoe
Tommy Roo ate a canoe,
When he reached the shore.
But Tommy Roo wasn't through,
Until he ate the oar.
Kangaroo Sky
Kangaroo sky,
Kangaroo sky,
Not too low,
Nor too high!
Rain, Rain, For What It's Worth
Rain, Rain, for what it's worth,
Can you not move on to Perth?
Little Joey here wants to surf,
Little Joey here wants to surf.
Go to Bed Early
Go to bed late,
Next day slump.
Go to bed early,
Next day jump!
Kangaroo on the Surfboard
Kangaroo on the surfboard,
Kangaroo on the sand,
Kangaroo playing drums,
In a rock-n-roll band.
Wild Bill Hickok
Wild Bill Hickok took a peacock
To the county jail.
Says Wild Bill Hickok to the peacock,
"Are you able to post bail?"
Says the peacock to Wild Bill Hickok,
"I'm pluck out, and that's no line!"
Says Wild Bill Hickok to the peacock,
"Then a feather will do just fine!"
Oh Mary Roo
Oh Mary Roo
All dressed in blue.
With big brown eyes,
And a long tail, too.
She cannot read,
She cannot write.
But she can bounce
All day and night!
Kangaroo, Kangaroo
Kangaroo, Kangaroo
Zips past his peers,
Now they see his tail,
But first came his ears.
A Pig and a Kangaroo
A Pig and a Kangaroo
Sat by Donald Trump.
Yet the pig was feeling blue,
An account he could not jump.
So the Pig and the Kangaroo
Spoke with The Donald,
And the scores for the high jump
Were in the end annulled.
Little Kangaroo Bounces Down the Path
Little Kangaroo bounces down the path,
When I count his jumps,
I shall use my math!
A Boomer Taught His Joey
A Boomer taught his Joey,
"School is nothing you should dread.
Just breathe in to lift off,
And breathe out to fly ahead!"
I Often Sit And Wish
I often sit and wish that I
Could leap across the outback sky,
I'd jump here and I'd jump there,
With lots of hang time in the air.
Joey Gives Me Apples
Joey gives me apples,
Joey gives me berries.
Joey gives me promises
I'll be the one he marries.
One for a tail
One for a tail,
Two for a rumor.
Three for a flyer,
Four for a boomer.
Five for a pouch,
Six for a steed.
Seven for the kangaroo in the lead!
I See Joey
I see Joey,
And Joey sees me.
God bless Joey,
And God bless me.
Little Boy Joey
Little Boy Joey,
Played Travis and Bowie,
In the defense of the Alamo Shrine.
He drew a mark with a stick,
And he asked them to pick:
Will you join me across that line?
Old Mother Roo
Old Mother Roo
Had a bout of the flu,
So she took a small dose of elixir.
When along came a breeze,
She said with a sneeze,
"I am sorry if I'm not a good mixer."
Baby Joey
Baby, Joey,
Come down from the tree house pouch.
Baby, Joey,
One bee sting and you'll cry, "Ouch!"
Joey Put Your Jumper On
Joey put your jumper on,
Joey put your jumper on.
Joey put your jumper on,
Before you catch cold.
Punchke take your mittens off,
Punchke take your mittens off,
Punchke take your mittens off,
Miss Winter's gone away.
Boinga Boinga Kangaroo
Boinga Boinga Kangaroo
Have you any bounce?
Yes, sir, yes sir,
In plentiful amounts.
One for the band,
And two for the flyer,
Amd three for the
Big Lady in the choir.
One Unlucky Kangaroo
One little kangaroo went up the hill to jump,
And Dean Gogh came along and he bit her on the rump.
Why on earth would Mean Dean go and do such a thing?
And he never even waited for the dinner bell to ring!
Drew Roo
Drew Roo could jump no fence,
His wife could hold no peas.
The farmers rested well at night
With visitors like these.
A Bowie, A Joey
A bowie, a Joey,
A sister roo named Chloe.
What makes you dress so fine?
You used to wear what momma bought,
But now you wear what's mine!
Cry, Joey, Cry
Cry, Joey, cry
Swish your tail into your eye,
And tell your mom it wasn't eye!
Bouncy, Wouncy Kangaroo
Bouncy, Wouncy Kangaroo
Is something in your pouch?
Yes, sir, yes sir,
For that I can vouch.
There's one for the boomer,
And two for the flyer,
These three pretty stones
Of shiny sapphire.
First Street, Second Street
First Street, Second Street,
Rolling Roo;
The king's outback,
And he can't see you!
**************************
The kangaroo is a fitting symbol of motherhood not only because a flyer has a pouch, but because the method by which she moves is an amazing feat. Each bounce down the path connects the flyer with her joey, the mother with her child, and the past with the future creating a bond which is the essence of motherhood.
Knock-knock.
Who's there?
Andrew.
Andrew who?
