WILKINS FAMILY RADSTOCK SOM/LAN


My Wilkins Family migrated to the Durham Coalfield about 1870,they then moved to the Burnley Coalfield. Most of them were coalminers and here is a brief run down on them.
Wilkins George <1864-1927>Eldest son of John Wilkins B.23 Dec 1864 Vagend Coleford SOM.Died Burnley LAN.16th March 1927.
John Wikins <1833-1894> Eldest son of Samuel Wilkins Bap 3 March 1833 St Nicholas Radstock.Died Burnley LAN 1st April 1894.
Wilkins Samuel <1797-1866> Second Eldest Son of Thomas Wilkins Bap.8th Oct 1797 St Nicholas Radstock. Died Radstock 15th May 1866.
Wilkins Thomas <1773-1838> Married St Nicholas Radstock 2nd Feb 1794 Bur Radstock 24th Oct 1838.Thomas was of the County of Wiltshire and the Parish of Melksham. John Wilkins my Greatgrandfather settled down
in Burnley with his wife Elizabeth Maggs and their five children Sarah Ann Born about 1863 Kilmersdon Som,George Wilkins Born 23 Dec 1864. Maggs,Button,Ashman,Francis,James,Yelland,Richardson,Latchem,Hancock,Box,Webb.

I have now set up a Database for Radstock to help other researchers with Radstock interests. this covers the following for lookups Census 1851.1871 and Radstock Strays so if you have any please let me have them.I hope to transcribe the P.R. and add to the database along with any extracts from Published sources.

Radstock lies about 3miles N.E.of Midsomer Norton in the hundred of
Kilmersden,coalmines are in the Parish. Places of worship are the
parish Church of St Nicholas the church was dedicated to ST NICHOLAS,
who was the Bishop of Myra.inAsia Minor,during the third century.
The Patron Saint of many English churches and looked upon as the
protector of children,scholars,Merchants,and sailor's.
